RYAN SWEETING WINS JITIC, CENTRAL AMERICA & CARIBBEAN TOURNAMENT
Ryan Sweeting, the top ranked junior in the Bahamas and #23 in the ITF Junior World rankings, has won the JITIC Tournament defeating Alberto Gonzales (Pan) 63,76(1). This is an important win for Ryan as he has been selected to join the ITF International Junior Touring team to play in Canadian Open Aug. 29 th – Sept. 3 and the US OPEN Sept. 4-11 th. Shortly after the US OPEN, Ryan will start his NCAA career at the University of Florida. In the JITIC doubles Ryan and partner, Barton (CRC) lost in the semi finals to Berruti/Loza (MEX)
Other Bahamians who had a strong showing at the JITIC under 18’s were Jessica Sweeting who lost in the semi final singles to Velasco of Mexico 62, 67(5), 63. Alanna Rodgers and partner, Leacock of Trinidad lost in the doubles final to Brito (CHI)/Velasco (MEX).
