JESSICA SWEETING

(Pictured - At the Banana Bowl)

Before the recent Banana Bowl in Brazil, she was never able to get into the main draw of a grade A tournament because her world ranking was not high enough. She took advantage of the opportunity and won 4 matches before losing to Sharon Fichman of Canada who won the Banana Bowl. In the process, Jessica had some great wins over highly ranked players. She defeated #2 seed(#15 in the world) Giulia Gabba of Italy 6-3,6-1. She also defeated #14 seed(41 in the world) Andrea remynse of the USA 4-6,7-5,6-3 after fighting off 2 match points. Her ranking after Banana Bowl rose to #69 in the world. She continues to work extremely hard. Jessica is coached by Nicolas Guizar at The Performance Tennis Academy in Weston, Florida. Wimbledon, Canadian Open and US Open are some of the tournaments she plans to play later this year.
